Year after year, companies are developing successful ways to market themselves to potential employees. They are maintaining an updated brand strategy and implementing strategies to candidates that walk through their doors. Just as you have a Unique Value Proposition for B2Bs and/or B2Cs, you must maintain an Employee Value Proposition (EVP). An EVP is balance of employee benefits in return for their performance at the workplace.

Begin with your internal brand.

Have you answered questions such as:

  1. Why would someone want to work for you and your company?
  2. How much time do you spend training a new employee and current employees in all areas of the business?
  3. What is the perception employees and candidates have about your brand?
  4. How do you ensure employees stick around?
  5. Has retention been successful? Why?

Start with these five questions to consider your internal branding strategy and how you want to relay these answers to potential interviewees.

Tell your story.

As a brand, tell your story with your company’s history and how it has transitioned into what it is today. Include various employees and job descriptions to create a picture of internal processes. How your candidate views your company is just as important as how you view them.

Create a company resume.

Have a one-sheeter, infographic, brochure, or some other type of creative piece that shows your organization’s mission and values. Not only will this help market your business, but it also leaves a professional, positive impression to candidates considering multiple jobs. Just as top candidates have distinguished resumes, so should your organization.

Engage job candidates with a compelling illustration of what they can expect post-hire during the on-boarding process. This will set appropriate expectations and will help elevate your company from the others.
